2022 SSC at South Bend Scholarship Recipients
New this year, the SSC Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to a select number of students within the South Bend community. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on demonstrated academic achievement, community service, and interest in pursuing education at a college or trade school following graduation.
We are excited to announce the recipients of the 2022 SSC at South Bend Scholarships: Madison Smith and Jessi Watson.
Madison Smith
Madison Smith is a 2022 graduate of Penn High School. She graduated with an Academic Honors Diploma and an associate’s degree due to her hard work in the Early College Academy. Madison is now attending Illinois University- South Bend and plans to major in Elementary Education and serve her community as a teacher post-graduation.
Madison’s dad, Shane, is a lifelong resident of the Michiana community and a 1996 graduate of Riley High School. He has been an electrician for 26 years and joined the SSC team in May of this year. Shane has been married with 23 children and is the proud father of Madison and a 17-year-old son, Brady.
Jessi Watson
Jessi Watson is a 2022 graduate of Adams High School. She is passionate about helping people and making others smile or laugh from simple things. Jessi is now attending Indiana State University of South Bend to further her studies and become a pediatrician.
Jessi’s mother, Tonya Powell, has worked as a custodian at Harrison School for two years and transitioned onto the SSC team in January. She enjoys reading, taking walks, and playing computer games, and supports her daughter in everything she does.
