Queens University of Charlotte Earns NALP Bronze Award for Grounds Management

November 21, 2025

Tucked in the historic Myers Park neighborhood of Charlotte, Queens University of Charlotte is known for its timeless beauty, tree-lined lawns, and welcoming sense of community. That atmosphere doesn’t happen by chance – it’s the result of daily dedication and precision by SSC Services for Education’s Grounds Department, whose stewardship was recently recognized with the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) Bronze Award for Commercial Grounds Management.

Through quiet consistency and an eye for excellence, the SSC team helps Queens continue to grow, shine, and empower its community every single day.

Creating an Award-Winning Campus at Queens University of Charlotte

The NALP Bronze Award highlights the care and commitment behind Queens University’s beautiful grounds. Through daily attention to detail and teamwork, SSC’s Grounds Department helps ensure the campus remains a welcoming, well-kept place for students and visitors alike. It’s recognition of a partnership built on pride, consistency, and dedication to the university community.

A Front Door of Pride and Precision

At the entrance of campus, the McEwen Science Building lawn offers one of Queens University’s most polished landscapes. Its lush fescue and meticulous care reflect SSC’s commitment to presentation, precision, and community pride – setting the tone for the beauty found throughout the university grounds.

Signature Cherry Grove

The Yoshino and flowering cherry trees that line Queens Hall and the Evans Clock Tower Lawn provide an iconic canopy across campus. Their long leaf season brings year-round beauty – and daily upkeep. SSC teams handle ongoing cleanup and adjust furniture placement to protect turf, keeping these beloved spaces ready for outdoor classes and gatherings.

Lawns for Living and Learning

The Residential Quad and Levine Center Lawn serve as the university’s outdoor living rooms – open, shaded spaces where students study, relax, and connect. These areas demand flexible scheduling and quiet precision, as crews coordinate mowing, cleanup, and irrigation to maintain comfort without interrupting student life.

Flower Beds in Bloom

The NALP Bronze Award for Commercial Grounds Management is a meaningful recognition of the pride, precision, and purpose that define SSC’s partnership with Queens University of Charlotte.

Every lawn stripe, planter, and flower bed reflects a shared dedication to quality and care – creating a campus that is not only beautiful to see, but inspiring to experience.
