SSC Donates $15,000 Annually To Support Diversity Initiative at Richland School District Two

October 18, 2021

SSC Services for Education & Richland School District Two have a shared passion for diversity. We recognize that to best serve the diverse populations of students who attend school at each facility, we must actively work to ensure that these students see strong minority members leading in their classrooms.

Richland School District Two, located in Columbia, South Carolina, boasts a diverse population of nearly 28,000 students. According to the 2020-2021 Annual Report, 81.3% of these students are a part of a minority. It is reported that “less than 2 percent of teachers nationwide are minority males.” Richland Two exceeds this average, with 6% of teachers in the district being minority male educators, however they continue to pursue increased diversity to best serve the students within the district. Through the Premier 100 Initiative, Richland Two emphasizes hiring and retaining minority male teachers each year.

SSC Services for Education believes that companies, schools, and organizations must focus on diversity & inclusion. In support of the Premier 100 Initiative at Richland 2, SSC will donate $15,000 annually to aid in the strategic recruitment and retention of minority male teachers.

At the Premier 100 Summit this November, all men of color educators hired at Richland Two this year will receive $250. All retained Premier 100 men of color who renew their contracts with the district will receive $200. The remaining funds will be used for future hires, recruiting events, and the next Premier 100 Conference recruiting event in March.

SSC Services for Education is eager to see more men of color become teachers, mentors, and role models for students at Richland School District Two. Check back for a recap of the Premier 100 Summit, taking place on November 18, 2021.
